Rethinking your IT Infrastructure

An agile endpoint computing strategy is a concept that surpasses a traditional mobile strategy and encompasses everything from devices through to applications, data and user settings. In order to achieve a truly agile computing strategy, we need to look beyond traditional computing models.

With a traditional client computing model the desktop layers are highly dependent on each other. Decoupling these layers creates flexibility and makes the desktop environment more agile. This in turn will, directly impact management, line of business and the end user experience.

Once the decoupling of layers has taken place, each layer can be managed separately. The result of having each layer running independently is a fully managed environment with enterprise mobility and support including:

  • User settings, file sharing and collaboration
  • Application delivery transformation and deployment
  • Multiple web browser platform management
  • OS Virtualisation / Standardised OS
  • Appropriate hardware for the workflow process

  • Clearly defined goals will need to be created to ensure that both the enterprise and the employees are gaining new services without compromising work practices. The separation of layers will enable IT to look forward and think about Unified Endpoint Management (UEM) rather than management per device type or solution.
